PENSACOLA, Fla. — Pensacola State College Charter Academy is now accepting applications.
The school is accepting 150 high school juniors and seniors into the program.
The curriculum will be designed for students to earn their high school diploma and Associates degree at the same time.
Classes begin Aug. 8 on Pensacola State College’s Warrington campus. There is a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA requirement.
Students’ application will also be evaluated based on their reading, writing and math scores on the SAT, ACT or PERT exam.
The new academy’s principal, Dr. Karen McCabe, says the school is a full-time dual enrollment, so students will be held to higher academic standards.
Before graduation, students are required to complete a capstone project that relates to their desired career path.
“They will do some heavy research with an individual in that field and possibly shadow them,” says Dr. McCabe.
Information sessions about the academy will be held next Tuesday and Thursday from 6–7p.m. on the Warrington campus.
