Holley-Navarre Water System, Inc. began operations in 1970. HNWS is a member-owned, not for profit corporation. Each member of the water system holds membership in the corporation upon signing a service agreement when connecting to the system.
The operation of the HNWS is governed by a set of bylaws, which are enforced by a seven member-elected Board of Directors. Board members are elected by the members for a three-year term and receive no compensation.
The Board conducts the business of and establishes policy for the corporation, according to the wishes of the members and as governed by the bylaws. Annual meetings are held in January to elect new Board members and officers.
Since its founding, HNWS has been expanded and upgraded the system to meet the growing needs of its members. Today, the system serves more than 14,000 customers and provides for water and wastewater treatment services.
